Kevin Hellman, PhD

Research Associate Professor, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, NorthShore University HealthSystem & University of Chicago

Dr. Kevin Hellman directs an NIH-funded research program studying dysmenorrhea and chronic pelvic pain (cureperiodpain.org).  He aims to systematically define the pathophysiology of dysmenorrhea and develop new treatments to alleviate millions of women's suffering worldwide. Dr. Hellman’s laboratory has made significant progress by developing new animal models, investigating novel diagnostic methods, and conducting treatment studies. His recent review article on dysmenorrhea, published in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, was used as reading material for board recertification, providing a roadmap for developing effective treatments for menstrual pain.
