NEW YORK, N.Y., April 1, 2025 — Dr. Tamer Seckin, internationally renowned endometriosis specialist and excision surgeon, received the 2025 Endo Hero of the Year Award this past weekend from Worldwide EndoMarch and the American & Global College of Endometriosis Specialists (AGCES).
The presentation was made at the EndoMarch & AGCES 2025 Conference in Atlanta.
“Dr. Tamer Seckin's dedication to advancing endometriosis care has made a lasting impact on countless patients worldwide,” said Dr. Camran Nezhat, founder of Worldwide EndoMarch and AGCES. “We are honored to recognize his contributions with the Endo Hero of the Year Award.”
Dr. Seckin is the founder of the Seckin Endometriosis Center in Manhattan. He also co-founded the Endometriosis Foundation of America (EndoFound) in 2009 with author and TV host Padma Lakshmi. EndoFound was the first advocacy foundation started by a practicing physician that raises awareness about the disease, including the value of early diagnosis, excision surgery, and research.
“I’m honored to be recognized by Dr. Camran Nezhat, Worldwide EndoMarch, and the AGCES,” Dr. Seckin said. “Together with Dr. Nezhat, other healthcare professionals, and endometriosis patients, we’re striving to bring attention to this disease and make advancements in treatment options. I’m proud to be part of this effort.”
Dr. Seckin’s practice and EndoFound have become synonymous with his lifelong mission of fighting for women’s healthcare and ending the suffering inflicted upon those with endometriosis.
“I saw gynecology—and, specifically, endometriosis—as a very challenging field,” Dr. Seckin stated in his critically-acclaimed first book, The Doctor Will See You Now: Recognizing and Treating Endometriosis. “I saw it as something deep, vast, unbelievable. I know those are not adjectives people usually use when describing gynecology, but the exploration into the unknown, with the potential to end a woman’s years of suffering, captivated me.”
The Endo Hero of the Year Award adds to a long list of honors Dr. Seckin has received over the past two decades, including being named a New York Times Magazine “Super Doctor” each of the last five years. He also has received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, the Best Doctor Award by Best Doctors in America, the Silver Star Award from the Lenox Hill Hospital Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the President’s Award from Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center.
Along with his practice and foundation work, Dr. Seckin is a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Donald & Barbara Zucker School of Medicine and a Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology clinical instructor at Lenox Hill Hospital.
Dr. Seckin received the award along with Dr. Harry Reich, a pioneer in laparoscopic surgery, former EndoFound scientific director, and longtime EndoFound board member.
