In Memory of Dr. Michael Brodherson

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Michael Brodherson, a valued member of the Endometriosis Foundation of America's board of directors. Dr. Brodherson was instrumental during EndoFound's early years and a dedicated advocate for women's reproductive health. His loss will be deeply felt, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family.

Following his training at Lenox Hill Hospital, Dr. Brodherson practiced urology on New York’s Upper East Side since 1979. Known for his expertise and compassion, he had a special interest in complex surgical and gynecological procedures. His extensive experience in open urologic procedures made him a sought-after consultant for challenging cases, always available in emergencies.

Dr. Brodherson was committed to personalized patient care, making himself available 24/7 and offering house calls. This dedication distinguished his practice in today's fast-paced healthcare environment.

His credentials were impeccable. Dr. Brodherson served as the interim chair of the Department of Urology at Lenox Hill Hospital and as the Chief Medical Officer at Gramercy Surgery Center in New York, where he performed ambulatory procedures. His expertise extended significantly into the care of patients with endometriosis, making him a vital part of the team caring for these women over many years. His contributions to EndoFound were immense, reflecting his passion for the cause.

Dr. Brodherson was also a respected medical-legal consultant, frequently involved in courtrooms nationwide. One of his most notable roles was as house physician for the Metropolitan Opera since 1987, extending his care to Koch Theater, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and the American Ballet Theater. A Juilliard Preparatory School piano graduate, his lifelong passion for music enriched his professional and personal life.

Dr. Brodherson’s legacy of compassion and excellence in urology, along with his support for women's reproductive health, will continue to inspire us. His contributions to medicine and the lives he touched will never be forgotten.

We honor Dr. Brodherson’s memory by celebrating his life, work, and passion. He will be greatly missed.
